How the estimate works
The calculator measures how much of your image would be stitched (transparent or background pixels are left out), scales that to your finished size, and multiplies by a stitch density. The densities come from our own machine-ready files, not a generic rule of thumb:
| Design | Style | Stitches per mm² of art |
|---|---|---|
| Fox Scout, 230 mm | Mostly fills | 3.6 |
| Fiery Wolf, 230 mm | Detailed, layered | 4.9 |
| Dragon Snake & Katana, 265 mm | Detailed, layered | 5.6 |
| One-colour house logo, 100 mm | Line art and lettering | 7.2 |
Line art scores high because satin outlines pack many stitches into a small area. Real files vary with underlay, fabric and how much detail is kept, so treat the result as a range. For an exact number, send us the art or read a finished stitch file in the second tab.
Run time assumes 800 stitches per minute plus about 2.5 seconds per trim and 4 seconds per colour change. Dense designs usually run slower than that on real machines.
